The J1939 female connector is with a locking ring. Rotating the locking ring after plugging assures that the connector won’t come unplugged accidentally.

The end of Deutsch 9-Pin female connector can be overmolded or not, according to your needs. If the ends are overmolded, the cables are more sturdy and durable. If not overmolded, the price can be lower because the raw material and labour cost is saved.
