The 6-Pin J1708 female connector is with a locking ring. Rotating the locking ring to the right place after plugging to a 6-Pin J1708 male receptacle assures that the connector won’t come unplugged accidentally.
The ends of 9-Pin J1939 male and 6-Pin J1708 male connectors can be overmolded or not, according to your needs. If the ends are overmolded, the cables are more sturdy and durable. If not overmolded, the price can be lower because the raw material and labour cost is saved.
The Deutsch 9 Pin J1939 male connector of this cable is Type 2, so its Pin F is with smalller diameter as Pin C and Pin J.
